Watch the coronation procession on the Big screen.
The Coronation ceremony on Saturday, May 6th, and the Coronation Concert on Sunday, May 7th, will be broadcasted live on this screen. Big screens will also be made available in public areas throughout the UK to display the Coronation, offering an opportunity for you to gather with your local community and commemorate this momentous occasion. This is a free and public event.
Service of Thanksgiving for the His Majesty King Charles 3rd Coronation
The Service of Thanksgiving offers a chance to mark the Coronation of His Majesty the King and Her Majesty The Queen Consort, with music by the Cathedral Choir, prayers, and chosen Bible readings. The Lord-Lieutenant of Tyne and Wear, Ms Lucy Winskell OBE, will attend, and the service will be followed by a Coronation Picnic on the Eastern Terrace hosted by the Friends of St Nicholas as part of the ‘Big Lunch’ initiative. Little ones can enjoy bouncy castles and crafts, while you can pre-book an individual afternoon tea box or union Jack picnic blanket to make the day more special. Each box includes sandwiches, cake, pastry, fruit, a treat, and a choice of Tea, Coffee, or juice, with sandwich options at checkout.

if you’re bringing little ones along, there will be bouncy castles and crafts available to keep them entertained while you enjoy the ceremony. Make the day even more special by pre booking an individual afternoon tea box, or a union Jack picnic blanket – yours to keep and remember the day. Each individual box for one contains sandwiches, cake, pastry, fruit and a treat and comes with a Tea, a Coffee or a juice. Sandwich choice is available on check out.

If you are interested in the history of the city, then a visit to Newcastle Castle is a must. This historic castle is the site of the coronation ceremony and is open to the public. You can take a guided tour of the castle and learn more about the city’s fascinating history.
